What we need to plan a case:
1. Accurate upper and lower scans, impressions or models of the patient
2. CBCT scan of the patient
3. Patient photographs:
Photos are a very important element of the planning process. At a minimum we need the first 6 photographs, although additional photographs are welcomed. We recommend that the patient is photographed standing up, looking directly at the camera. If the patient is wearing a prosthesis, they should be photographed wearing their prosthesis.
Photo 1 and 2 are the most important and must be full face. Photos 3-7 are supplementary
Tips:
- Please use a smart phone.
- Camera is level to the face.
- Photos taken at an angle will distort our ability to set the occlusal plane.
- Please tape facial hair away from the mouth.
- The picture is only useful if the teeth are visible relative to the face.
- If a patient has gingival display, we need to know how much to reduce bone/hide the transition line accordingly.
- Please remove glasses as they distort our ability to set the midline.
- It’s recommended to turn on the grid feature on your phone camera and align one of the horizontal lines to the pupils.
- If a patient has excessive overjet/overbite, we need pictures to determine how much to retract/push out.
- Repose and profile photos for determining lip support and prosthetic options.
- These pictures help facilitate discussions regarding removable vs. fixed prosthetics.
After submission of all your files and photographs, our planning team will prepare your plan for a planning meeting with you. After approval of the plan, the guides will go into production, and you can expect to receive your guides within 6 weeks.
